More Share BLACK LIVES MATTER The Clark Art Institute condemns the persistent systemic racism that has fueled senseless brutality against Black people and people of color. We are outraged and saddened by the grievous murders we continue to witness. We are also appalled by the structural racism in our public service systems that has led to disproportionate losses suffered by Black communities during the pandemic. We stand in solidarity against racism in any form. Black lives matter. Committing to change is the only way we can honor the legacies of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others. We cannot look away from the truth of our nation’s simmering bigotry or from the institutional inequity that underlies cultural organizations like ours. As a museum and a center for research, the Clark has much to learn and much to do in changing our institution in support of our mission and in service to our communities. Although our staff is working on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, we have not done enough. We have a sense of immediacy and a deep commitment to making change happen, including hiring practices, programming, and expanding the ways we use and talk about art. We live in troubled times. We can do better. We will do better. Connect with the Clark! While our galleries are closed and public programs temporarily suspended, the Clark's programs are moving to a new virtual format. Lines from Life: French Drawings from the Diamond Collection In celebration of the generous, ongoing gift of Herbert and Carol Diamond, this exhibition explores an array of figure drawings by leading nineteenth-century French artists. Works by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, the Flandrin family, Eugène Delacroix, Edgar Degas, Jean-Léon Gérôme, and Odilon Redon illustrate the ebb and flow between academic traditions of drawing the body and freer approaches that challenged those conventions. Pia Camil: Velo Revelo This yearlong exhibition in public spaces around the Clark features a new, site specific installation by Pia Camil, as well as two of the artist’s large-scale sculptures in fabric. The title, Velo Revelo, pairs the Spanish for a “veil” and the verb “reveal.” Pia Camil lives and works in Mexico City, and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. 225 South Street Williamstown, MA 01267 P 413 458 2303 Press Room Contact Us Employment Privacy Policy TRANSLATE Copyright © 2020 The Clark Art Institute...
